Andy Murray is set to undergo a “surgical procedure” on his back before the former No. 1 makes a decision about trying to play at Wimbledon or the Paris Olympics. The 37-year-old Murray had retired from his second-round match at Queen’s Club on Wednesday because of back pain — the latest in a series of injuries that have slowed the two-time Wimbledon champion. His management team confirmed that he’d have the procedure Saturday. No other details were provided.

Luis Garcia got the win and Evan Phillips took the loss. Carlos Estevez earned his 14th save for the Angels, who stopped a two-game skid. Angels starter Patrick Sandoval left because of forearm tightness after walking Ohtani in the third. He'll have a MRI on Saturday.

Jake Cronenworth homered and had a career-high five hits, including a go-ahead single in the seventh, and Luis Arraez hit a two-run homer for the San Diego Padres, who beat the NL Central-leading Milwaukee Brewers 9-5 for their third straight win. The Padres lost star right fielder Fernando Tatis Jr. and left fielder Jurickson Profar to injuries, and committed four errors. Tatis was removed two innings after suffering a bruised left triceps when he was hit by a pitch on the left elbow by former San Diego pitcher Colin Rea with two outs in the third.

NEW YORK (AP) — Ozzie Albies hit a two-run homer on Carlos Rodón’s second pitch of the night, Austin Riley and Matt Olson also went deep off the left-hander and the Atlanta Braves routed the suddenly struggling New York Yankees 8-1 on Friday for their seventh win in eight games.
