I'm picking up a used BMW S1000RR in Sacramento this Saturday around noon. I don't have a truck or trailer so I'm looking for someone who is free that afternoon and has the "stuff" to get the bike back here to Pleasanton.
I'll pay $100 + gas??
U haul can rent me a truck and motorcycle trailer for $35 but the mileage is .99/mile + gas so that adds up to north of $250.
I'm in Pleasanton and can come to you if that would be easier to start with.
Let me know.
The alternative is have my wife drive me up and I ride the bike back but as you can imagine, she's not happy about doing this.
Thanks guys.

Not bagging on the wife but what is her problem? She doesn't want to make time for you ,or she doesn't want you to get the bike?

I just sold my BMW R1200RT which she considers a "safer' bike. Plus she's missing a Christmas party with her girlfriends on Saturday.
She'll take me but she's grumbling. I'd rather pay someone and leave her out of it if I can.
The price is all set. We're both Wells Fargo customers so it'll be a snap to transfer funds from me to the seller at his local branch. While we're doing that the bike could be loaded up.
The bike was serviced yesterday at A&S and they gave it a clean bill of health so it'll be a quick turnaround.
He's in south Sacto, looks fairly easy to get to.

Dumb question, but why not ride it home? Then all you need is a ride to the sellers location.

Yep, if I could get a one way ride that would work. The thing is I haven't actually seen the bike in person much less test driven it. I'm 99% sure I'll get it but there's always the chance it won't work out once I see it.

Alternately, Enterprise at San Jose mineta airport is $120 including tax and fees for a f150, renting from Saturday to Sunday, with unlimited mileage.

If you can't source a ramp and tie downs on here, cycle gear likely has them in stock.

(I'd volunteer, but I'm kinda far away)

To answer your question, marriage is a compromise as we all know. I give up a little to make her happy and she does the same for me. Everything I do is first run through the filter of "how will she react to this?". And this is done out of love and respect, not fear. Happy wife happy life as the saying goes. Similar thing with my job and my boss. This moto thing is the one thing I have that's all mine as selfish as that may sound. I think we all need something we can call our own, where we can be free to think and do as we please without the worry of how others may react.
Yeah, I'll just ride it back tomorrow.

I've got a couple ramps and a set of tie downs that I'd be happy to lend. No truck though.

I'm headed to Sac from Benicia tomorrow around 1 if you want a one-way ride. It's my dad's side of the family's xmas so I'll be there till late but I could potentially grab it and bring it back OMW home if it's not super urgent to get it home after pickup.

EDIT: I have a truck, ramp, chock, and (if needed) open utility trailer. But as a 1-armed gimp, would need a little help getting that beast on/off truck/trailer.

You can always try renting a truck from Getaround or Turo, and that might be a bit cheaper.

I'm in the "ride it back" group. But my thought was take a one way rental car, the cheapest compact available, and don't worry about the wife having to drive you there.
