Update 11 March 2024

Today we have published the results of this consultation. We received 445 responses to the consultation and would like to thank everyone that took part.

Following careful consideration of the consultation responses and a further review of what was proposed and the costs involved, we have decided not to proceed with changes to routes R1, R2 and R3 as these no longer represent value for money.

We have not yet reached a decision as to how we may proceed with changes to routes R6 and B14 which remain subject to the receipt of bus operator costs. A decision is expected later in 2024 and we will write to you again with a further update once this is available.

Thank you again to everyone that took part in the consultation.

Background

We continuously review and adapt the bus network to reflect changing customer needs. This includes proposing adjustments to bus existing routes, to ensure services can continue to operate efficiently in areas where our customers need them most.

London’s bus network is our most affordable, accessible, and available form of public transport and offers the main sustainable alternative to cars for those journeys that can’t easily be walked or cycled. It is also London’s most flexible mode of public transport. You can read more about how we are increasing the number of bus journeys by making bus travel better, quicker, and greener in our Bus action plan.
