The Euro 2024 fever is fast approaching with just two days until the action gets underway - but the drama of the summer transfer window has already given us something to think about.

The Light Blues have made an approach for the midfielder but may have to pay a minimum of £500,000 in compensation to their Premiership rivals. Bayern Munich winger Yusuf Kabadayi is also closing in on a move to Ibrox, while a price has been set for Kosovo forward Albion Rrahmani.

Both Rangers and city rivals Celtic are said to be lining up a bid of £300,000 for Scotland's latest cap, Tommy Conway. At thhe other eend of the park, Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers is still searching for a new goalkeeper and Newcastle's Martin Dubravka is the latest to be linked along with Peter Vindahl Jensen of Sparta Prague. Scott McKenna has previously reportedly been on Celtic's radar and the champions could now snap him up for nothing after the Scotland defender's release from Nottingham Forest.

Hearts have acted quickly to sign quarter Yan Dhanda, Blair Spittal, James Penrice and Ryan Fulton on free transfers, but the priority in Gorge this summer will be to tie down skipper Lawrence Shankland - who is into the final 12 months of his contract at Tynecastle - to a new deal.

Messi admits the end is near

Lionel Messi has conceded that he is nearly ready to call it quits on his illustrious playing career and has confirmed that Inter Miami will be his last professional club.

The 36-year-old will be hoping to lead Argentina to their third major trophy in the spin this summer by retaining the Copa America, two years after he lifted the World Cup in Qatar.

But the football icon admits that he does not have a lot of time left before he hangs up his boots for good. In an interview with ESPN, he said:

Inter Miami will be my last club, yes. As of today, it's gonna be my last one. I love playing football, I enjoy everything much more because I am aware that every time there's less and less.

I've done this all of my life; I love playing ball. I enjoy the practices the day to day, the games. Yeah, there's a bit of fear that it's all ending. It's always there. It was a difficult step leaving Europe to come here [Miami].

Ederson has say on exit rumours

Reported Liverpool target Ederson has opened up on his future at Atalanta.

The Brazilian midfielder - who played a starring role in his side's victorious Europa League campaign last season - is said to be on new Anfield boss Arne Slot's summer wishlist, with the likes of Manchester United, Atletico Madrid and Juventus also believed to be interested.

But the 24-year-old has shut down any talk of a move elsewhere until he is back from the Copa America, having been included in the Brazil squad that is hoping to win the prestigious trophy back from rivals Argentina next month.

Speaking to Spanish outlet AS., he said:

Not only about my future, but also for many players.

When I received my call-up, I told my wife and my agents: ‘Look, now I'm going to the national team, so you have to deal with what comes and what doesn't come. Now I'm going to focus on the national team, it's my first call-up, so my head has to be one hundred per cent there. And then I will think about my future.

Celtic urged to take second McKenna look

Peter Grant has told Celtic they should definitely be looking to sign Scott McKenna.

The former Aberdeen star is a free agent after leaving Nottingham Forest, where he found himself frozen out of the team last season.

A loan stint at FC Copenhagen allowed the Scotland international to get some Champions League experience under his belt ahead of joining up with Steve Clarke's squad for Euro 2024.

And while McKenna's full focus will be on toppling hosts Germany in Friday night's opening game in Munich, he will no doubt have things going on in the background as he looks to sort a new club for the upcoming campaign.

Both Celtic and Rangers have been linked, with Parkhead arguably a more realistic destination.

And given the lack of depth Brendan Rodgers has at centre back, Grant is all for his former club at least exploring the possibility of bringing McKenna in. READ MORE

Ratcliffe to call off Branthwaite transfer

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is not willing to let Manchester United fork out for Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite - according to The Sun.

The Tofees are said to he holding out for £80million for the 21-year-old, which is a similar fee to the one that the Old Trafford club paid Leicester City for Harry Maguire in 2019.

Branthwaite joined Everton from Carlisle back in 2019 and won his first senior cap for England in the pre-Euro 2024 friendly against Bosnia and Herzegovina, despite later getting dropped from the 26-man squad for the finals.

Rangers facing Barron gamble

Rangers will have to pay more than the £500,000 plus training compensation to Aberdeen or take a gamble on a tribunal if they want to sign Connor Barron.

The Ibrox side has been interested for several months but the Scotland under-21 cap had been weighing up his options with offers in England and strong interest in Italy.

Barron is set to go out of contract this month and if he was to move outside of Scotland then Aberdeen would be entitled to just over £500,000 in training compensation.

That figure does not hold in Scotland and unless the two clubs could agree compensation then any fee would be decided by an independent tribunal.

That is unlikely to value Barron, who came right through the Dons Academy, at less than the training compensation.

The chances are that Rangers could be asked to pay significantly more as Dundee United previously found out to their cost when they signed Charlie Telfer from the Light Blues a few years back.

It puts Aberdeen in a strong position and they can hold out for an enhanced fee and other potential add-ons and sell-on that wouldn’t be on offer if Barron was to leave Scotland.

One-time Rangers midfielder Gennaro Gattuso has sealed his return to management after being appointed as the new head coach of Croatian side Hajduk Split.

Barron move to Ibrox approved

Connor Barron would be a good signing for Philippe Clement and Rangers according to former Celtic star Simon Donnelly.

The Light Blues are close to landing the midfielder following his release from Aberdeen, with Clement's squad overhaul at Ibrox this summer continuing.

The playmaker had previously been linked with moves to both Bologna and Cagliarli in Serie A, but the Gers now appear to have jumped straight to the front of the queue to secure 21-year-old's signature.

And in the view of former Scotland midfielder Donnelly, they could do much worse. Speaking on Clyde Superscoreboard, he said:

Listen, I think he's had a decent season. When I've seen him, I think he can play the lad. He's brave, he's got a wee bit of tenacity about him as well. Would he be a good signing for Rangers? I think he would.

Hibs ain't that flush

Ian Murray has warned that Hibs are facing a massive rebuild and that the Easter Road club "don't have a much money as people think."

New boss David Gray has already lost goalkeeper David Marshall to retirement, and there is interest in forwards Elie Youan and Marton Boyle.

Former Hibees skipper Murray knows Gray has a big job on his hands this summer, and won;t have piles of cash despite investment from Bill Foley's Black Knights group.

He's been there, he's worked under three or four different managers now and earned those stripes," Murray told Fife Today.

Hibs obviously need a massive rebuild job, they really do.

It's not black and white and they don't have as much money as people think.

So David's got a really hard job on his hands. I wish him all the best in doing that, getting them back into that top half of the table and doing well.

I still have terms left on my contract. Money is not important to me. The most important thing is to play in a league that I enjoy playing in. I have so much more I want to accomplish in the Premier League.

Rangers told to cash in on Tavernier and Goldson

Rangers should cash in on James Tavernier and Connor Goldson to fund a new deal for Jack Butland.

That is the view of Peter Grant - with the Celtic hero declaring that the goalkeeper is more important to the club that the skipper and centre-back stalwart. He told Go Radio:

I asked you the question what would Rangers fans think? Would you rather keep Butland or get money for the two boys and keep Butland?

Me personally, I would because I think a goalkeeper is vital for you and if I could give Jack Butland a few extra shillings to extend his contract I would definitely do that because I definitely think the manager looks at them and thinks I need something different.

I need defenders that are going to defend well and try to keep that level. For all the things he’s done going forward James Tavernier, you’ve still got to say there’s question marks about his defending.

I also think the same with Goldson so I think it’s definitely something Philippe Clement’s looked at and thought I need to improve that.

EXCLUSIVE! Celtic and Rangers battle for Conway is on

Rangers and Celtic will both make offers for Scotland Euro 2024 star Tommy Conway - if he runs down the final 12 months of his Bristol City contract.

The 21-year-old, who is currently with Steve Clarke’s national team preparing for Friday’s opener against Germany, is going into the final year at Ashton Gate and talks over an extension have failed to come to fruition. Rangers and Celtic can sign Conway on a pre-contract in the new year and the English Championship would lose him for cross-border compensation for as little as £300,000. Both Glasgow giants are aware of the player’s situation and are both monitoring the situation very closely.

A move to Scotland would be City’s worst nightmare because if they were to sell him in England they would be able to demand a significant seven figure fee. It would to challenge for silverware and to play in Europe is also something that the Scotland new boy, who made his international debut against Finland on Friday, would consider.

Leonard chase heating up

Marc Leonard is being chased by as many as FOUR EFL clubs.

The Brighton midfielder enjoyed a successful loan stint at Northampton and that has put him on the radar of a number of clubs.

Sky Sports state that Birmingham City - relegated to League One - have entered the race to sign the Scotland Under-21 international.

They face stiff competition from Wrexham, Cardiff and Oxford.

Leonard is into the final year of his contract with the Seagulls, who hold an option to extend his terms for a further 12 months.

Lecce launch fresh Lagerbielke bid

Lecce have reportedly launched a second bid to land Gustaf Lagerbielke.

The out-of-favour centre-back was subject to firm interest from Serie A in January but a move collapsed due to an injury crisis facing Brendan Rodgers.

However Sky Sports News report they are ready to move again for a loan with an option to buy.

It comes after Record Sport reported Hyeongyu Oh could be on his way out to Belgium as Rodgers looks to trim his bulking squad down and focus on quality over quantity.
